Allied Ophthalmic Paramedics (AOPs) program of SCEH is specifically designed to train young women from underprivileged backgrounds with the aim of improving the delivery of ophthalmic services, skilling women, strengthening eye care and transforming future.
The AOP Program empowers young women with the skills, confidence, and purpose to build a dignified career in eye care. Through a structured curriculum combining clinical training, digital literacy, English communication, and life skills, trainees evolve into competent, compassionate eye-care professionals.
AOPs play a critical role in identifying, screening, and supporting patients, and in streamlining clinical workflows—boosting productivity and enabling ophthalmologists to deliver better, faster, and more cost-effective care. Their work directly contributes to reducing avoidable blindness in the communities they serve. Aligned with 10 UN Sustainable Development Goals, the program embodies the spirit of women’s empowerment, quality education, and decent work for all. More than a training course, it is a journey of transformation—from dependence to dignity, from dreams to reality.
At SCEH, we don’t just create skilled professionals—we nurture confident, resilient women who uplift their families, strengthen healthcare systems, and inspire change. These young women stand as the backbone of community eye care—symbols of hope, skill, and social change.
